'Quakes hope to keep momentum against Orlando

May 22, 2015 - 8:38 PM San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Jose Earthquakes will be attempting to run their unbeaten streak to five games on Sunday when the club welcomes Orlando City SC to Avaya Stadium.

San Jose collected three points from its last outing in a 2-0 triumph over Columbus Crew SC, while Orlando should also be confident after thrashing the Los Angeles Galaxy, 4-0, at the Citrus Bowl to claim their first home victory of the campaign.

Kaka was in top form against the Galaxy, scoring a goal and assisting on another, while goalkeeper Tally Hall made his debut between the posts after recovering from a knee injury suffered at the end of last season with Houston.

"It's a huge confidence boost," Hall told MLSsoccer.com following the win. "It's the win, it's how we did it, it's doing it for 90 minutes, and that is big for us."

The win snapped a five-game winless streak at home for Orlando, and the club will now attempt to collect a third win away from the Citrus Bowl this season against a San Jose side that is in good form at the moment.

The win over Columbus came after Mohammed Saeid was sent off for the Crew in the 33rd minute upon receiving a second yellow card. And the 'Quakes took advantage after halftime with goals from Chris Wondolowski and Shea Salinas five minutes apart.

A second goal is something that has eluded San Jose on a number of occasions this season, costing the club valuable points.

But the goal from Salinas on the hour mark served to put the game away, and Wondolowski believes that second goal is something his team must find a way to score more often to be successful.

"Something that we need to do is get that second goal, to finish games off," Wondolowski said. "I thought we did that tonight. After that, it made it a bit easier. We could open up, find the ball and start possessing a bit more.

"Sometimes, you have to dig deep to get that result. Sometimes, you just have to play pretty football to get the result."

The win over Columbus marked the first time that San Jose managed more than one goal in a game since a March 22 2-1 victory over Chicago.
