Valencia sign Cheryshev on loan

Feb 1, 2016 - 10:09 PM Real Madrid have loaned midfielder Denis Cheryshev to Spanish rivals Valencia for six months, both clubs announced just before the close of the winter transfer window Monday.

Cheryshev, 25, has not played for Real since the whites were thrown out of the Spanish Cup in December for fielding the Russian international when he was suspended in the competition for having picked up two yellow cards when on loan at Villarreal last season.

"I hope to be able to rise to the challenge at Valencia. I am pleased to have been given this opportunity," said Cheryshev, who might make his debut for Los Ches Wednesday away to Barcelona in the semi-finals of the cup.

Cheryshev is the second player to be signed by Valencia, following left-back Guilherme Siquiera from Atletico Madrid. According to media reports, Valencia are also interested in taking Colombian striker Radamel Falcao on loan from Chelsea.

Meanwhile, they have loaned defender Lucas Orban to crosstown rivals Levante, and striker Rodrigo de Paul to Argentine club Racing.

Valencia have not won in La Liga for 11 games and are languishing in 12th place, despite the good form of Socceroos goalkeeper Mat Ryan.
