Neville says he's being unfairly judged

Feb 7, 2016 - 9:17 PM AP - Gary Neville claims he's been unfairly judged as Valencia coach despite admitting the team's winless streak in La Liga is unacceptable.

Valencia suffered a 1-0 loss to Real Betis on Sunday, heaping more pressure on Neville.

"I said before I came that I would be judged as a success or failure in five months. The obituaries have already been written, so I've been judged in six weeks," he said.

"I don't believe we are getting the results that reflect the improvement in this team.

"That's difficult to explain, but I've seen this before in football many times."

Valencia haven't won in 12 league rounds, nine of those under the command of the former Manchester United and England player.

The club was humiliated 7-0 by Barcelona in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals on Wednesday.

Valencia dropped to 13th in the league standings with Sunday's loss, four points off the relegation zone.

The club's Australian goalkeeper Mat Ryan admitted it was a difficult time for Valencia.

"We have these moments in life and in football, unfortunately," Ryan told the club's website.

"It's frustrating for all the members of the team. We are very sad for the fans, and for ourselves, and we will do everything possible to get out of this situation."
