Foot fracture rules out Bayern's Neuer

Apr 20, 2017 - 1:04 PM Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer does not need surgery on his latest foot injury but will not return this season, the German Bundesliga leaders said Thursday.

Neuer suffered a metatarsal fracture during the Champions League loss to Real Madrid on Tuesday (Wednesday AEST) and was immediately ruled out for several weeks.

The 31-year-old Germany international had undergone an operation on the foot three weeks previously.

Thursday's confirmation means that in addition to missing the rest of Bayern's league games, Neuer will be unavailable for the German Cup semi-final against Borussia Dortmund next week.

"Of course I am sad that I'm not available for the team for the end of the season," Neuer told the Bayern homepage.

"Now I'm concentrating fully on getting completely healthy as quickly as possible."
