PM congratulates Russia-bound Socceroos
Nov 16, 2017 - 1:24 AM Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has led tributes to the Socceroos, a day after their qualification for the World Cup.Ange Postecoglou's side reached the Russian tournament with a 3-1 win over Honduras on Wednesday and celebrated with a public reception in Martin Place in Sydney on Thursday afternoon.
"Congratulations Socceroos! Twenty nine months, twenty two games and last night, you've qualified and you're on the way to Moscow and the World Cup," Turnbull said.
"Mile Jedinak ... three goals. That's a captains knock. The captain knocked three times."

The crowd of several hundred had their say, cheering the national team coach loudly when asked by the MC whether they'd like him to stay on in the job.
Mark Milligan, who returned to the side in the second leg triumph at ANZ Stadium, said the Socceroos deserved their place in Russia.
"When that final whistle went, it was relief," he said.
"It's been a long journey.
"It was a relief that we got there and we did it our way. I'm extremely excited to be a part of this group."
