Kane admits Spurs must work on slow starts
Nov 26, 2017 - 5:23 PM Harry Kane admits Tottenham must turn around their stuttering form at Wembley after they were held to a 1-1 draw by managerless West Brom.Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs had already dropped points at home to Burnley and Swansea this season while also only scraping to 1-0 wins over Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.
West Brom became the latest side to leave the national stadium with a surprise result after Salomon Rondon gave them an early lead before Kane equalised with 16 minutes left.
Tottenham are playing at Wembley while work on their new stadium is completed and they are struggling to replicate last season's ruthless form at White Hart Lane.
"We didn't start well enough, we gave them a head start at 1-0 and, knowing a team like West Brom, they are then going to drop off and make it difficult for us," Kane told the club's website.
"That's exactly what happened. We played much better in the second half but it wasn't enough in the end.
"It's hard to say why there was a slow start but it's something we're going to have to work on and try to change because these are games we have to be winning and we've dropped too many points here. We have to change that around."
Tottenham now look to be in a fight for the top four rather than the Premier League title, while West Brom remained 17th.
Gary Megson has been put in temporary charge of Albion following Tony Pulis' departure and he believes his side could even have claimed victory, with Rondon spurning an excellent chance late on.
"On the back of getting battered by Chelsea, what happened with Tony and then coming to Wembley against one of the best teams in the country, it could have been a disaster for us," Megson said.
"But we kept it going really well and, while Spurs had a lot of possession and put a lot of crosses in the box, I can't remember a sitter we got away with.
"In fact we probably had the best chance with Salomon and that cross."
