Galaxy 1, FC Dallas 1

FRISCO, Texas (STATS) - Even with a man advantage for almost 70 minutes and a lead thanks to an early goal, the Los Angeles Galaxy still couldn't come up with a win.

The Galaxy ended up with their eighth tie in 10 games after a 1-1 draw with FC Dallas on Saturday evening.

Drew Moor's goal in the 31st minute helped FC Dallas (1-6-3) salvage the draw despite the Galaxy (1-1-8) finishing with a 20-9 advantage in total shots.

"I think technically if we had played better we would have won," said Los Angeles' Landon Donovan.

Donovan gave the Galaxy a 1-0 lead in the 3rd minute from inside the goalie's box. Eddie Lewis set it up with a left-footed cross to Donovan from inside the left corner of the penalty box. Donovan who was tangled up with Dallas defender Daniel Torres deflected the shot into the net with his left foot.

"I didn't hit it (the ball) well, it came off both of us," Donovan said. "It was a good ball by Eddie."

It was the first time Los Angeles had scored a goal in the first 35 minutes of a game this season, and the goal was Donovan's 16th career MLS goal against FC Dallas, the most any player has scored against the club.

Moor scored the equalizer after he angled a header into the left corner of the net from eight yards away. Dave van den Bergh set up the goal with a free kick from the right corner.

"It's something we go over two-three times a week," Moor said. "I had a good week of playing set pieces."

Dallas had to play most of the game one man down after midfielder Marcelo Saragosa was given a red card for shoving Lewis in the back of the head in the 25th minute. In addition to Saragosa's red card, the two teams combined for six yellow cards.

"The guy has no business doing that, he needs to keep his hands to himself," Galaxy defender Gregg Berhalter said.

Moor said he expected a physical game.

"Both squads are battling for points, that means it was going to be feisty and chippy," he said. "I don't know how anybody came off the field without a yellow card, not many people did."

Los Angeles had eight shots on goal to only three for FC Dallas.

"We didn't capitalize on our opportunities, didn't finish off plays," Galaxy coach Bruce Arena said. "We have to play a little bit quicker and a little bit cleaner."

In the 13th minute, the Galaxy's Alan Gordon had a point-blank shot from the top of the penalty box, but Dallas goalkeeper Ray Burse made a diving save to stop.

Burse made another diving save with his fingertips to deflect a shot from Donovan in the 19th minute.

Burse finished the game with seven saves and Galaxy goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts ended with two saves.

"It was a difficult game for us, a very stressful game," FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman said. "But we got a point when we played 65 minutes a man down, we absorbed their pressure."
