Toliver leads Sparks past Mercury
Jun 24, 2012 - 4:32 AM Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Kristi Toliver netted a career-high 29 points, lifting the Los Angeles Sparks to a 93-84 win over the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday.Alana Beard chipped in 18 points while Jantel Lavender added 11 points and nine rebounds for the Sparks, who have won three straight and eight of their last 10 games.
Samantha Prahalis tallied 22 points, five assists and four steals for Phoenix, which has dropped four of its last five.
The Sparks jumped on the Mercury in the second quarter, outscoring them 30-8 to take a commanding 50-26 advantage into the break. Los Angeles cruised to the easy victory from there.
Los Angeles' Candace Parker sat out the contest due to a sore knee.
