Dream defeat Sparks
Sep 3, 2013 - 2:28 AM Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Erika de Souza scored a season-high 27 points as the Atlanta Dream ended their four-game losing skid with a 92-82 upset win over the Los Angeles Sparks.Jasmine Thomas added 19 points for the Dream and Alex Bentley recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 assists in the late-season showdown.
Both teams sit in second place in their respective conferences with less than a month to go in the regular season. Los Angeles has a playoff spot anchored down while Atlanta is locked in a close chase with Washington and Indiana.
Nneka Ogwumike registered a double-double for the Sparks with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Candace Parker and Lindsey Harding both contributed 16 points as the Sparks had their three-game winning streak come to an end.
Los Angeles came roaring back after trailing 48-32 at the half. Parker's two free throws helped cut down Atlanta's lead to five points with a little less than six to go in the final quarter, but missed shots and fouls allowed Atlanta to hold on to the lead and win the game.
