Fever rally, edge Mystics

Jul 20, 2013 - 1:37 AM Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Shavonte Zellous had a team-high 16 points to help lead the Indiana Fever to a 77-70 comeback win over the Washington Mystics on Friday.

Briann January and Erlana Larkins each chipped in with 12 points as the defending WNBA champs, who started the season 1-7, won for the fifth time in their last six games.

Washington's leading scorer on the season, Ivory Latta, recorded 16 points while Matee Ajavon and Kia Vaughn each added 10 for the Mystics.

Trailing by seven going into the fourth, the Fever outscored the Mystics, 22-8, in the final quarter. January made a clutch three and two free throws late help cap the comeback.

The Mystics shot 3-of-14 from the field in the last quarter.

Crystal Langhorne's jumper extended Washington's lead to 66-58 with 5:58 remaining, but Indiana scored the next 10 points, going ahead on a pair of Larkins free throws.

After Monique Currie's layup tied the game at 68, January put the Fever ahead with her 3-pointer with 1:24 left. Zellous' jumper with 51.5 seconds left came after the Mystics turned the ball over thanks to a backcourt violation and resulted in a 73-68 cushion.

These same teams will play again Sunday afternoon in Washington.
