Sparks handle Silver Stars
Sep 1, 2013 - 2:55 AM San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Nneka Ogwumike and Candace Parker both recorded double-doubles to help the Los Angeles Sparks defeat the San Antonio Silver Stars, 80-67, on Saturday.Ogwumike had 19 points and 10 rebounds while Parker had 12 points and 11 boards for the Sparks, who have won three straight and nine of their last 10 games. Kristi Toliver also contributed with 15 points and seven assists.
Jia Perkins had a game-high 25 points and Jayne Appel registered 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Silver Stars.
The Silver Stars kept it competitive throughout the first half and were down 35-30 at halftime.
However, the Sparks outscored them 45-37 in the second half. Ogwumike and Toliver had 14 and 11 points, respectively, and the team led by as many as 19 late in the fourth.
