Cash leads Shock past Sky
Jul 11, 2007 - 1:53 AM AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Swin Cash scored 20 points to lead the Detroit Shock to a 92-84 win over the Chicago Sky on Tuesday.Deanna Nolan scored 18 points and Plenette Pierson added 16 off the bench for Detroit (13-5), which is 5-0 all-time vs. Chicago.
After a layup by Candice Dupree with 4:21 left in the third period gave the Sky a 53-48 lead, Katie Smith sank two a 3-pointers wrapped around a Cash jumper that gave Detroit the lead for good at 56-55 with 1:38 remaining. Smith scored 14 points, including four shots from the arc.
Cash connected on 7-of-10 from the floor for Detroit, which shot 52 percent (36-of-69).
Reserve Jia Perkins scored 22 points and Chasity Melvin scored 18 for Chicago, which led 41-40 at halftime and shot 43 percent (31-of-72).
Dupree had 17 points and hauled in 10 rebounds for the Sky (8-11), who have lost three straight.
