Powell, Robinson overcome injuries, Mystics in win
Aug 13, 2007 - 4:51 AM SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- Nicole Powell scored 28 points as the Sacramento Monarchs outlasted the Washington Mystics, 86-82, in overtime on Sunday.Powell scored 17 of her points for the Monarchs in the second half as Sacramento turned around a 34-31 halftime deficit into a 54-43 lead at the 2:14 mark of the third quarter, powering Sacramento to victory despite the absence of veteran starters Ticha Penicheiro (hamstring pull) and Yolanda Griffith (hyperextended right knee).
Washington's Alana Beard responded with nine of her 25 points between that time and the end of regulation, helping the Mystics send the game into overtime when Monique Currie made one of two free throws.
