Sparks use big run in fourth to down Shock
Jul 16, 2011 - 2:46 AM Tulsa, OK (Sports Network) - Kristi Toliver scored 25 points and the Los Angeles Sparks used a huge spurt in the final quarter to beat Tulsa, 79-74, sending the Shock to their 13th loss in 14 games to begin the season.DeLisha Milton-Jones totaled 18 points and nine rebounds for the Sparks, who have won back-to-back contests after a five-game skid. The Sparks, who concluded a seven-game road trip, finished the game on a 17-3 burst.
Andrea Riley had 15 points and Tiffany Jackson 14 with 10 boards for Tulsa, which lost its eighth in a row. Kayla Pedersen had 13 points and Liz Cambage 11 for the Shock, who led by as many as 18.
Pedersen's three-pointer boosted the hosts to a 71-62 lead with 7:16 remaining, but a layup by Milton-Jones began a run of nine straight points. The Sparks tied the game on Toliver's three-point play with 3:21 left.
Los Angeles then ended the game on an 8-1 run. Milton-Jones tied the game at 73 with a layup and another bucket from in close by Tina Thompson moved the visitors in front for good.
Riley hit 1-of-2 free throws with 39.5 seconds left for a 75-74 game, but Toliver gave the Sparks breathing room by drilling a three with 19.7 seconds on the clock.
Prior to the game the Shock re-signed Betty Lennox. She didn't score in just over two minutes of playing time.
