Cash, Shock keep Mystics winless

May 31, 2007 - 3:01 AM AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Swin Cash and the Detroit Shock wanted to continue to make life miserable for the Washington Mystics.

Cash scored 21 points and Katie Smith also scored 14 as the Shock beat the Mystics, 94-79, to send Washington to its worst start in franchise history.

Reserve Plenette Pierson scored 14 points and Deanna Nolan added 13 and eight assists for Detroit, which improved to 3-0 for the first time since opening with a franchise-best four wins in 2005.

Washington, which is 0-2 on the road this season, has lost five straight away from home dating to last season. Prior to this contest, the Mystics (0-4) only other 0-3 start came during their inaugural season of 1998.

With the Shock trailing, 22-21, at the end of the first quarter, Detroit outscored Washington, 24-14, to take a 45-36 halftime lead. The Shock took their largest lead in the third quarter after two free throws by Pierson made it 58-42 with 4:38 left in the period.

Leading, 66-59, entering the final quarter, Detroit ran off a 9-0 run capped by two free throws by Kara Braxton to make it 77-62 with 6:22 left.

DeLisha Milton-Jones scored 18 points and Alana Beard had four steals for the Mystics, who fall to 6-10 all-time here vs. the Shock.
