Parker, Sparks roll past Storm
May 23, 2012 - 4:59 AM Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Candace Parker posted 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Kristi Toliver added 18 points and five rebounds, as Los Angeles downed Seattle, 74-61.Alana Beard chipped in with 13 points and seven rebounds for the Sparks, who are off to a 2-0 start this season. The Sparks dominated the interior scoring, 30-16, and scored 15 points in transition.
Ann Wauters led Seattle with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Tina Thompson scored 13 points and Katie Smith 11 in the loss. The Storm never led thanks in part to 19 turnovers and 38.6 percent shooting from the floor.
Los Angeles led 22-16 after one period and rattled off the first four points of the second quarter to post a 26-16 edge. Los Angeles led 37-33 at the half, and held a 51-45 edge late in the third quarter when Beard connected on a pull-up jumper and made a free throw before Toliver and Parker made back-to- back treys to finish off a 9-0 scoring stretch.
The Sparks led by double digits throughout the final quarter.
