Lynx hold off Sparks to return to Finals
Oct 7, 2012 - 11:06 PM Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - The defending-champion Minnesota Lynx are headed back to the WNBA Finals.Seimone Augustus scored 21 points, Maya Moore netted 20 and theLynx held off the Los Angeles Sparks, 80-79, on Sunday.
Alana Beard missed a jumper at the buzzer for the Sparks.
Lindsay Whalen added 17 points for the Lynx, who overcame a 10-point fourth- quarter deficit.
Minnesota, which swept the series 2-0, await the Connecticut Sun or Indiana Fever.
Candace Parker tallied 33 points and 15 rebounds for Los Angeles, which came in with a 4-21 mark against the Lynx at the Staples Center.
The Sparks had a 17-0 run in the third quarter and built a 65-57 advantage after three quarters of play.
Minnesota, though, responded with an 18-9 flurry and took their first lead following a pair of Moore free throws for a 75-74 edge with 4:23 remaining.
A bit later, a pair of Parker baskets, a tip-in and three-pointer, made it 79-77 in favor of Los Angeles before Monica Wright's go-ahead triple with 1:14 left turned out to be the last basket of the game.
