Jackson sparks Storm past Comets

Jul 7, 2007 - 2:46 AM HOUSTON (Ticker) -- Lauren Jackson and the Seattle Storm pulled away in the second half and rolled to a 71-55 victory over the Houston Comets on Friday night.

Jackson scored 28 points and finished with 13 rebounds - both game highs - as the Storm (10-7) won here for the first time since June 18, 2004.

The Storm had lost six straight at Toyota Center and had won just once in 14 all-time trips to Houston entering Friday.

The Comets got 14 points from Tina Thompson and dropped back-to-back home games in falling to a league-low 4-13. Houston had won four of five after starting the season with 10 straight losses.

Betty Lennox was the only other Storm player to reach double digits, scoring 16 points.

Seattle played their first game without All Star guard Sue Bird, who had arthroscopic surgery on her left knee and will miss at least five games.

After losing three of four from June 13-22, the Storm have won three straight and five of their last six games.
