Jackson, Storm hand Sparks seventh straight loss
Jul 10, 2007 - 10:49 PM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Lauren Jackson and the Seattle Storm took full advantage of the problems of the Los Angeles Sparks.Jackson scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the Storm wrapped up a three-game road trip with an 82-47 rout of the Sparks on Monday.
With top player Lisa Leslie out due to child birth and Chamique Holdsclaw retired, Los Angeles set a club record with a seventh straight loss as it shot just 30 percent (20-of-67) from the field.
Jackson shot 7-of-15 from floor with two 3-pointers as Seattle built up a 21-point lead after third quarters before cruising to its fourth win in its last five games.
Iziane Castro Marque scored 19 points and Betty Lennox added 12 and five assists for the Storm, who shot 49 percent (31-of-63) and held a 34-25 advantage in rebounds.
Taj McWilliams-Franklin was the lone player in double figures with 10 points, while top rookie Sidney Spencer was held to two points on 1-of-7 shooting for the Sparks.
