Jun 22, 2013 - 4:13 AM Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Diana Taurasi scored 31 points and the Phoenix Mercury defeated the Washington Mystics 90-82, on Friday.Brittney Griner, the first overall pick of the 2013 WNBA Draft, had 21 points and four blocks for the Mercury, who have won four of their last five games.
Ivory Latta scored 22 points while Monique Currie had 17 points and eight rebounds for the Mystics, who have lost two straight.
Washington was down 78-65 with 6:44 remaining in regulation, but went on a 13-2 run to cut the deficit to two with 3:21 to play.
However, the Mystics missed their next five shots before Latta made an 18-foot jumper with 13 seconds left. Taurasi made six free throws in the final 1:15 to help seal the game.
