Hammon helps Silver Stars capture sixth straight win
Jul 21, 2007 - 2:25 AM SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- All-Star Becky Hammon scored 18 points to lead all five starters in double figures as the San Antonio Silver Stars posted an 81-71 victory over the Sacramento Monarchs on Friday.Sophia Young had 15 points and seven rebounds and Ruth Riley added 11 points and three blocks as the Silver Stars won their sixth straight game.
San Antonio shot 51 percent (29-of-57) from the field and made 11 of 16 from 3-point range.
San Antonio pulled away for good in the third quarter behind a 17-6 burst, capped by Camille Little's driving layup with 3:23 remaining for a 58-48 advantage.
Kara Lawson netted 16 points off the bench and Ticha Penicheiro chipped in 11 for the Monarchs, who shot 44 percent (26-of-58) and forced 15 turnovers.
