Taurasi's double-double powers Mercury past Silver Stars
Sep 14, 2013 - 4:05 AM Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Diana Taurasi returned from a one-game suspension and posted 20 points and 10 assists to lead the playoff-bound Phoenix Mercury to an 82-61 victory over the San Antonio Silver Stars on Friday at US Airways Center.Taurasi, who was suspended for an accumulation of technical fouls, connected on 7-of-9 from the field, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range for the Mercury, who are locked into the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference and will face Los Angeles to open the playoffs.
Danielle Adams and Shenise Johnson each scored 11 points to lead the last- place Silver Stars, who have lost four straight games.
Phoenix scored the first nine points of the game and built a 25-10 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The Silver Stars pulled within 59-52 at the end of the third, but the Mercury opened the fourth on a 21-0 run to put the game away.
