White helps Fever snap six-game losing streak

Aug 1, 2007 - 1:44 AM INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Tan White scored 20 points to lead the Indiana Fever to a 66-57 victory over the Washington Mystics on Tuesday, helping snap a six-game losing streak.

White, who scored a season-high 25 points in Sunday's loss at Phoenix, scored 10 of her 20 points in the third quarter to help stretch a 30-24 halftime lead for Indiana to a 50-36 advantage. The Fever were not threatened the rest of the way.

Tamika Whitmore added 17 points and a career-high 15 rebounds for Indiana (17-10), which led from start to finish.

The victory ended the second-longest losing streak in franchise history and completed the four-game season sweep of the lowly Mystics (10-15).

Alana Beard, who was coming off a season-low 10 points in Sunday's loss to the Detroit Shock, led Washington with 15 points.

The Mystics lost for the seventh time in their last eight meetings with Indiana, who remain in a tie with the New York Liberty for last place in the Eastern Conference.

The Fever won for the first time playing without leading scorer Tamika Catchings, who may be out for the season with a partially torn plantar fascia in her left foot.

Beard's layup with 1:34 remaining cut the deficit to 63-56, but the Mystics never got any closer. Washington shot just 37 percent from the field (22-for-60) while committing 19 turnovers.
