Mabika helps Sparks hand Liberty another loss
Aug 1, 2007 - 2:58 AM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Mwadi Mabika scored 19 points and Taj McWilliams-Franklin added 13 and 10 rebounds as the Los Angeles Sparks handed the New York Liberty their seventh straight loss with a 73-63 victory Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.Temeka Johnson and Sidney Spencer each netted 10 points for the Sparks (9-16), who outscored the Liberty, 27-8, in the second quarter to set the tone for the victory.
Mabika was 7-of-11 from the field, including 3-of-5 on 3-pointers, and McWilliams-Franklin shot 5-of-10 from the floor - nailing her only shot from the arc.
Los Angeles outrebounded New York, 49-32.
Janel McCarville scored 16 points for the Liberty (10-15), who shot just 30 percent (21-of-69) from the field, including 6-of-17 from the arc.
