Lennox's 34-point outburst leads Storm by Mystics
Aug 12, 2007 - 4:22 AM SEATTLE (Ticker) -- Betty Lennox scored a career-best 34 points and Lauren Jackson added 24 as the Seattle Storm rolled to a 91-68 victory over the Washington Mystics on Saturday.Earlier, Seattle (15-17) clinched the fourth and final playoffs spot in the Western Conference with Houston's setback to San Antonio.
Sue Bird netted 17 points and Ashley Robinson pulled down 11 rebounds for Seattle, which shot 47 percent (32-of-68) from the field.
Lennox made 11-of-16 shots, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, and grabbed seven boards. Her pervious high was a 31-point outburst against Washington on July 7, 2000.
Seattle took control of the game in the third quarter by using an impressive 18-0 surge capped by Jackson's three-point play with 6:43 remaining for a 61-38 lead.
The Storm held a commanding 32-8 edge in the period.
All-Star Alana Beard and Monique Currie scored 13 points apiece for the Mystics, who shot 30 percent (19-of-62) and had their four-game winning streak snapped.
