Thomas paces Sparks in win over floudering Lynx
Aug 13, 2007 - 3:55 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- LaToya Thomas scored 23 points to lead the Los Angeles Sparks to a 89-80 victory over the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday in the battle of the two worst teams in the league. The win continued the Sparks' domination of the Lynx, who have dropped 13 of their last 15 meetings in Los Angeles. Thomas did her part to snap the Sparks' five-game skid, scoring 13 of her points in the second half, helping Los Angeles hold off Minnesota's second-half rally.
Trailing, 41-27, to begin the second half, the Lynx were able to trim the deficit to 58-56 on Simone Augustus' jumper with 16 seconds left in the third quarter. However, Minnesota could get no closer, giving Los Angeles a rare wire-to-wire victory in what has been a down season.
Augustus led all scorers with 28 for the Lynx, who lost for the third time in four contests.
