Abrosimova carries Lynx past Shock

Aug 17, 2007 - 2:15 AM MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Svetlana Abrosimova made sure the Minnesota Lynx stopped singing the Motown blues.

Abrosimova scored 16 of her season-high 25 points in the first quarter as the Lynx ended their four-game slide against the Detroit Shock, 87-77, on Wednesday night.

Seimone Augustus had 19 points and Kristen Mann added 13 for Minnesota, which captured its first win in the series since a 10-point victory on July 13, 2005.

Abrosimova was stellar in the opening quarter, connecting on four 3-pointers as the Lynx jumped out to an impressive 31-15 lead. Minnesota shot 52 percent (10-of-18) from the field.

The 6-2 Abrosimova made 7-of-14 shots, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. She also had seven assists and grabbed seven rebounds.

Rookie Ivory Latta scored 15 points off the bench and Katie Feenstra and Plenette Pierson each had 13 and 10 rebounds for the Shock, who already have clinched home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.
