Thompson, Comets hold off Monarchs

Roneeka Hodges scored 14 points and Michelle Snow had eight and 10 rebounds for the Comets (17-17), who fell one game short of the Monarchs for the final postseason spot in the Western Conference. That outcome already was decided prior to Monday's contest.
Thompson shot 12-of-19 from the field, including 2-of-5 from the field, and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line for Houston, which shot a sizzling 56 percent (31-of-55) from the field, including 8-of-18 on 3-pointers.
Nicole Powell scored 20 points for Sacramento, which committed 19 turnovers in its final contest before Thursday's Game One of its Western Conference semifinals series against the San Antonio Silver Stars.
