Marlins rough up Harang, beat Braves 9-3

May 1, 2014 - 5:33 AM Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcell Ozuna and Christian Yelich each homered off Atlanta's Aaron Harang in the Miami Marlins' 9-3 victory.

Harang (3-2) entered Wednesday's game with an MLB-leading 0.85 earned run average, but gave up nine runs on 10 hits over 4 2/3 innings. The right- hander, who allowed more than one run for the first time this season, saw his ERA jump to 2.97.

"Pitch here, pitch there and all of a sudden he gets into better counts. I think he got frustrated," said Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez. "As a competitor and a pitcher pitching pretty good, you don't like to give up a lot of runs."

Garrett Jones went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored for the Marlins, who won by a 9-0 score in the first contest of this three-game series on Tuesday.

Miami starter Nathan Eovaldi (2-1) allowed one run on three hits with five strikeouts over seven innings. Eovaldi's solid performance came after Jose Fernandez tossed eight scoreless innings on Tuesday.

"Just attack, stay on them and keep attacking. Get the guys back into the dugout and fast as possible," Eovaldi said. "We got a big league and I wasn't afraid to give up a run or two. You just have to keep pounding the strike zone."

The Marlins got to Harang early and often. In the second inning, Casey McGehee singled and Jarrod Saltalamacchia doubled to put men on second and third. Jones' RBI single to right preceded Ozuna's three-run homer to right.

Miami tacked on another run in the third when Giancarlo Stanton scored on Saltalamacchia's sacrifice fly. Stanton led off with a double and moved to third on McGehee's groundout.

Yelich's two-run homer in the fourth made it a 7-0 game.

Miami plated two more runs in the fifth. McGehee doubled and Saltalamacchia singled to put men on the corners with one out. Jones followed with a sacrifice fly. After Ozuna singled, David Hale replaced Harang. Adeiny Hechavarria's RBI double made it 9-0.

Meanwhile, Eovaldi was cruising on the hill for Miami. He retired 10 straight batters before giving up a leadoff triple to Andrelton Simmons in the sixth. Simmons then scored on Hale's sac fly.

Justin Upton hit a two-run homer off Brad Hand in the ninth.
