Lind, Brewers beat up Twins

Jun 6, 2015 - 4:57 AM Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Adam Lind hit a three-run home run and drove in six as the Milwaukee Brewers took a 10-5 win over the Minnesota Twins to open a three-game interleague set.

Jonathan Lucroy and Jean Segura each hit solo homers for the Brewers, who had dropped their previous two. Kyle Lohse allowed five runs on eight hits over six innings while Jeremy Jeffress (2-0) pitched two shutout innings to pick up the win.

"I just play," said Lind. "Wherever they put me, I'm just happy to be in the lineup and able to contribute."

Joe Mauer hit a three-run home run while Brian Dozier and Torii Hunter each drove in one for the Twins, who had won four of six coming in. Kyle Gibson allowed five runs on six hits over seven innings and Blaine Boyer (1-2) was saddled with the loss.

Segura led off the game with his third home run of the year and Lucroy led off the second with his first of the season to give the Brewers a 2-0 lead.

In the third, Gerardo Parra singled with two outs and Carlos Gomez followed with a single before Lind lofted a pitch over the wall in right to give Milwaukee a 5-0 advantage.

Minnesota, though, was able to tie the game with a big fifth inning. With men on second and third and two outs, Dozier beat out an infield single and Hunter followed with an RBI single. Mauer then belted his second home run of the year to make it a 5-5 game.

"We fought," said Hunter. "We were down five runs. We came back. We have a little fight in us, we just couldn't finish it."

The Brewers went back on top in the eighth inning. With Blaine Boyer on the mound, Gomez doubled with two outs and Aaron Thompson then served up a double to Lind that scored Gomez.

Casey Fein took over on the hill and induced a pop up from Lucroy in front of the mound. Several players converged on the ball, but none of them went for it and it fell in front of catcher Kurt Suzuki's last second dive, with Lucroy scoring for a 7-5 lead.

The Brewers padded their lead in the ninth as Parra was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Lind later punched a two-run single for a 10-5 advantage.
