Alexander, defense lift Kats over Rush
May 20, 2007 - 3:37 AM ROSEMONT, Illinois (Ticker) -- Dan Alexander rushed for two touchdowns and helped control the time of possession as the Nashville Kats snapped a three-game losing streak with a 44-27 triumph over the Chicago Rush.Alexander rushed for 71 yards on 17 carries and Jeff Smoker completed 22-of-30 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns for the Kats (5-7), who controlled the ball for nearly 18 minutes in the second half.
Chicago (8-3) took a 27-23 lead with 5:35 remaining in the third quarter on a three-yard touchdown run by DeJuan Alfonzo but then were held scoreless for the rest of the game.
Kenny Higgins hauled in nine receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown for Nashville, which scored 21 unanswered points to close out the game.
Matt D'Orazio passed for 164 yards and two scores and Rob Mager had 11 catches for 76 yards and a touchdown for the Rush, who remain on top of the Central Division standings, one-half game ahead of the Colorado Crush.
