Huge fourth quarter caps late Storm rally

Jun 24, 2007 - 6:32 AM TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- The Tampa Bay Storm used a huge 27-point fourth quarter, capped off by Torrance Marshall's one-yard run with eight seconds remaining, to down the Austin Wranglers, 55-51, on Saturday.

Marshall paced the Storm on the ground, rushing for two touchdowns on his way to setting a franchise single-season mark. He scored at the end of each half and finished the season with 17 rushing touchdowns, surpassing the mark of 15 set by Les Barley in 1998.

In a final period that saw a total of 44 points scored, Terrill Shaw caught the first of his two fourth-quarter scoring passes from the Storm's Brett Dietz from nine yards out less than two minutes into the fourth to tie the game at 34-34.

The Wranglers' Derrick Lewis responded with a eight-yard scoring catch at the 7:34 mark to put Austin ahead, 41-34.

Tampa Bay's Lawrence Samuels scored from six yards out on the next possession to tie the game again at 41-41 and Otis Amey answered with a 10-yard TD catch to push the lead back out to 48-41. Shaw scored again from four yards out to tie the game with 51 seconds remaining.

Mark Lewis kicked a 24-yard with 30 seconds left to give the Wranglers their final lead, setting the stage for Marshall's last-second heroics.

With the win, the Storm locked up the National Conference's third seed and will host the Columbus Destroyers next Saturday.
