Garcia throws for eight scores as Dragons edge VooDoo
May 29, 2007 - 8:13 AM NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Aaron Garcia threw for eight touchdowns as the New York Dragons held on for a 69-63 victory over the New Orleans VooDoo on Monday night.Garcia went 29-of-37 for 358 yards and Kevin Swayne caught 13 passes for 150 yards and five scores as the Dragons matched a season-high with 69 points.
New York (5-7) is in the sixth and final spot in the National Conference with four games remaining on the season.
In the fourth quarter, Steve Bellisari found James Lynch in the end zone for a 13-yard TD to pull the VooDoo within 62-56 with 5:54 remaining. But Garcia answer with a seven-yard score to Keron Henry to keep the game at bay.
"We tried to let them score so we could get the ball back with some time on the clock," Dragons coach Weylan Harding said. "But they decided to milk the clock. You have to give our guys credit, they were resilient."
Bellisari completed 21-of-31 passes for 247 yards and six scores and Tyronne Jones had 10 catches for 125 yards and five scores for New Orleans (4-8).
