Dietz leads Storm to second win

Apr 30, 2007 - 1:54 AM TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- Brett Dietz did some damage with his arm, but it was his legs that helped secure a win.

Dietz scored from one yard out midway through the fourth quarter and Seth Marler kicked a late field goal to help the Tampa Bay Storm post a 34-32 victory over the Columbus Destroyers on Sunday.

Dietz's, who was 12-of-24 for 165 yards and two touchdowns, ran in from a yard out with 8:55 left in the fourth to give the Storm (2-6) the lead for good, 31-26.

Matt Nagy had given the Destroyers (4-4) a 26-24 lead early in the fourth with a 12-yard touchdown pass to B.J. Barre. Nagy was 18-of-30 for 204 yards and threw four touchdowns passes.

Damien Groce had six passes for 61 yards and two scores while Barre caught five passes for 57 yards for Columbus.

After Dietz gave Tampa the lead, Marler kicked a 20-yard field goal, his second of the game, with 56 seconds left.

That proved to be critical when Nagy scored from three yards out with 27 seconds left, but the two-point conversion pass was incomplete and Tampa Bay held on for the win.

Tampa Bay's Terrill Shaw had seven catches for 72 yards and two scores.
