Garcia carries Dragons past Soul
May 15, 2007 - 5:13 AM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Aaron Garcia was locked in on his targets.Garcia threw five of his season-high eight touchdowns in the first half as the New York Dragons posted a 69-49 victory over the Philadelphia Soul.
Garcia completed 22-of-34 passes for 264 yards, including two first-quarter TDs to wide receiver Mike Horaeck. It was Garcia's third game of the season since returning from a year-long injury.
In the second quarter, Garcia found Chris Anthony in the end zone twice and hit Kevin Swayne for another touchdown as the Dragons took a 48-35 advantage at halftime.
"The game felt good," Garcia said. "We knew we had to work and make them work all four quarters."
Swayne, who returned for a hamstring injury, hauled in nine passes for 83 yards and four TDs.
DeShane Dennis opened the scoring for New York (3-7) with a 57-yard kickoff return with 14:12 remaining.
Justin Wood went 17-of-30 for 204 yards and Charles Pauley had seven catches for 105 yards and two scores for the Soul (4-6).
