Philyaw's nine TDs doom Avengers
Apr 20, 2008 - 6:04 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Raymond Philyaw threw nine touchdown passes to power the Cleveland Gladiators to an 83-69 victory over the Los Angeles Avengers on Saturday.Philyaw finished 30-of-39 for 411 yards, with Otis Amey being the biggest beneficiary as he led the Gladiators (4-3) in receiving with 15 catches for 208 yards and six scores. Marlion Jackson added five touchdowns - including three rushing.
From eight yards out, Philyaw found Amey in the end zone for the final time with 19 seconds left in the game to seal the win.
Tom Hicks was 31-of-45 for 378 yards and eight touchdowns and also ran for a score for the Avengers (3-5).
