Dustin Martin's best AFL matches of 2017

Sep 25, 2017 - 1:17 PM Dustin Martin's best three performances in his Brownlow Medal-winning year.

ONE VOTE: Rd 23 v St Kilda - 36 disposals, 14 contested possessions, seven inside-50s, two goals

Martin capped off the home-and-away season with an enormous all-round performance as Richmond claimed a 41-point win to secure their first top-four finish since 2001. Martin's brilliant fourth-quarter checkside goal was the final nail in St Kilda's coffin. He also utilised his signature 'don't argue' to great effect, breaking six tackles.

TWO VOTES: Rd 1 v Carlton - 33 disposals, six clearances, six inside-50s, four goals

The Tigers started their campaign with a bang, downing the Blues by 43 points at the traditional MCG season-opener. Martin spent much of the game up forward and filled his boots, kicking four majors and setting up several others. A huge start to the year amid rampant speculation about his future at Punt Road.

THREE VOTES: Rd 3 v West Coast - 40 disposals, 15 clearances, nine inside-50s, two goals

In a wet-weather scrapfest, Martin proved the difference with his dominance in the middle. There was doubt about whether he would play after suffering a fractured cheekbone the previous week, but Martin lined up and delivered his best game for the season. He racked up a career-high 15 clearances - 11 of which came in the first half - and the Tigers claimed a hard-fought 11-point win.
