Roughriders win big, blank Blue Bombers

Sep 3, 2012 - 1:07 AM Regina, SK (Sports Network) - Darian Durant threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns before exiting with an injury as the Saskatchewan Roughriders snapped a five-game losing streak in emphatic fashion by blanking the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, 52-0, on Sunday.

Durant left with an apparent lower body injury in the third quarter and was replaced by Drew Willy, who completed 8-of-10 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown. Willy threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Terence Jeffers-Harris and added a one-yard rushing major.

"I told the guys this is the biggest win of my career," Roughriders head coach Cory Chamblin said. "Even bigger than the first one. It seemed like everything went right. After five weeks when everything goes wrong, thank God things went right today."

Kory Sheets ran for 106 yards and Weston Dressler added 52 yards receiving and two scores for the Riders (4-5).

Sandro DeAngelis kicked field goals of 50, 29, 45, 30 and 26 yards.

Tim Burke made his debut as Winnipeg's head coach. He replaced Paul LaPolice last week.

Tyron Brackenridge blocked a punt and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown, and added an interception on defense.

Joey Elliott completed 9-of-19 passes for 61 yards with an interception for the Bombers (2-7).

Saskatchewan led 10-0 after the opening frame, 28-0 at halftime and 42-0 entering the final stanza.

The Riders have won eight straight games against Winnipeg.
