Alouettes take down Argonauts

Sep 23, 2012 - 9:14 PM Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - Victor Anderson caught one touchdown pass and ran for another score as the Montreal Alouettes stomped the Toronto Argonauts, 31-10, on Sunday.

Trent Guy also hauled in a touchdown pass and returned a missed field goal for a score. Anthony Calvillo completed 15-of-29 passes for 315 yards and two touchdowns for the Alouettes (8-4), who have won six of their last seven games.

Jarious Jackson, who replaced an injured Ricky Ray, went 15-for-31 passing for 198 yards and an interception and Chad Kackert ran for 84 yards on 13 carries for the Argonauts (6-6), who have dropped back-to-back contests for the first time all season.

Ray left in the first quarter with a leg injury.

"Ray's knees are banged up, but we're not sure until we get back to Toronto,"

The Alouettes scored on their first touch when Calvillo connected with Anderson for a 40-yard touchdown pass. Anderson caught the short pass before making a series of defenders miss on his way to the end zone.

On their next drive, Calvillo's pass in the end zone was batted down on 1st- and-10 at the Toronto 10, and Anderson was tackled on the 5 on the following play, forcing Montreal to settle for a 12-yard field goal.

Toronto got on the board on the ensuing drive when Swayze Waters split the uprights from 34-yards out.

The Alouettes added another TD to go up 17-3 in the second quarter when Calvillo found Guy on a dump off, before the receiver beat his defender to the goal line.

Waters' 36-yarder with 2:25 remaining in the first half made it 17-6.

Montreal extended its spread to 24-6 when Waters' attempt from 41-yards sailed wide to the left and Guy returned it 129 yards for a touchdown. Guy broke down the sideline, ran over the kicker and pushed away the final defender to get into the end zone.

"Our coach helped us with our special teams this week, and that was why I was able to make that big return," Guy said. "My teammates were telling me to get into the end zone, but I must say I was a little tired at the end. My teammates helped matters with key blocks. It was great"

After missing a 48-yarder, Waters' single from 35-yards out made it 24-7.

Anderson's plunge from 5 yards out gave Montreal a 31-7 advantage.

Toronto forced a safety with just over five minutes remaining and a Waters single at the 3:54 mark capped the scoring.

Brandon London had five catches for 118 yards for Montreal ... The Als hold a 107-83-3 advantage all-time over Toronto ... Ray is considered day-to-day.
