Final
Saskatchewan tops Hamilton to stay undefeated
Jul 28, 2013 - 3:22 AM Guelph, ON (Sports Network) - Drew Willy had three touchdown passes as the Saskatchewan Roughriders took a 32-20 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.Willy, making the start in place of an injured Darian Durant, went 14-for-25 with 269 yards, while Geroy Simon caught five passes for 125 yards and a score for the Roughriders (5-0), who have won all their games this season by double- digits and were coming off a 37-0 blowout at home against Hamilton last Sunday.
"We played well and it was a good win," said Willy. "All week I wasn't sure if I'd start or not, but I got the call before the game. You prepare all week like you're going to start and when you find out you are starting, you switch into that mode."
Henry Burris was 26-for-41 with 395 yards and two scores for the Tiger-Cats (1-4), who got five catches for 114 yards and a touchdown from Greg Ellingson.
"It's disappointing to get off to a good start, then go into a lull for the final three quarters," said Burris.
Luca Congi's 15-yard field goal on the game's opening possession gave Hamilton a 3-0 lead, and the team made it a 10-0 game on its next touch as Burris and Lindsey Lamar got together for a 17-yard score.
Chris Milo kicked a 17-yard field goal late in the first quarter to get Saskatchewan on the board.
Josh Bartel conceded a safety in the end zone to give the Roughriders two more points, and the team then took the lead as Willy and Simon hooked up for a 30- yard score and a 12-10 lead 3 1/2 minutes into the second quarter.
The Tiger-Cats got the lead back later in the first half on a 39-yard touchdown catch from Ellingson to make it a 17-12 game.
Willy, though, tossed scores of 18 yards to Chris Getzlaf and 24 yards to Weston Dressler as the Roughriders took a 26-17 lead into the halftime break.
Field goals of 17 and 12 yards by Milo in the third quarter gave the Roughriders a 32-17 lead.
Congi's 36-yard field goal accounted for the only points of the fourth quarter.
