Lulay exits, but Lions crush Alouettes
Sep 16, 2013 - 12:18 AM Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Travis Lulay exited in the fourth quarter with an apparent shoulder injury, but the British Columbia Lions managed to beat the Montreal Alouettes, 36-14, on Sunday.Lulay suffered the injury while crossing the goal line on a 14-yard touchdown run. He completed 19-of-28 passes for 197 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions before leaving the game.
Thomas DeMarco took over under center and connected on 4-of-6 passes for 47 yards and a touchdown for the Lions (7-4), who improved to 6-0 at home this season.
Andrew Harris carried the ball 13 times for 68 yards and a score, while Courtney Taylor hauled in five passes for 117 yards.
Josh Neiswander completed 14-of-23 passes for 153 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Alouettes (4-7). Tanner Marsh connected on 9-of-17 passes for 76 yards.
A safety and Paul McCallum's 23-yard field goal gave the Lions a 5-0 lead in the first quarter.
In the second period, McCallum's 43-yard field goal and Shawn Gore's 14-yard TD catch made it 15-0.
Lulay's second interception of the game set up Montreal's first points late in the third quarter. S.J. Green later caught a 2-yard TD pass from Neiswander.
Harris responded with a 1-yard TD run to make it 22-7 after three quarters.
Lulay's touchdown run early in the fourth made it 29-7.
Brandon London and Marco Iannuzzi caught touchdown passes for their respective teams to account for the final margin.
Game Notes
Jerome Messam carried the ball nine times for 51 yards for Montreal ... Duron Carter caught six passes for 55 yards for the Alouettes ... The Lions avenged a last-second 39-38 loss in Montreal on Aug. 22.
