Saskatchewan tops Ottawa in OT

Sep 22, 2014 - 12:22 AM Regina, SK (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Milo kicked a 22-yard field goal in overtime to lift the Saskatchewan Roughriders to a 35-32 win over the Ottawa RedBlacks on Sunday.

In the first mini game in overtime, Ottawa quarterback Henry Burris threw an interception on the first play. Milo then missed a field goal from a distance of 37 yards.

Ottawa looked to end the game in a tie, but Brett Maher's 24-yard field goal was blocked.

Tino Sunseri was 20-of-32 for 260 yards and two touchdowns, while Weston Dressler caught seven passes for 125 yards and a score for the Roughriders (9-3), who have won eight of their last nine games.

Burris completed 23-of-38 passes for 282 yards with three touchdowns. Marcus Henry had eight receptions for 87 yards and Wallace Miles hauled in a pair of scores for Ottawa (1-10), which dropped its eighth straight game.

The RedBlacks led 29-17 going into the fourth, but the Roughriders battled back.

Sunseri hit Dressler for a 60-yard score on the second play of the stanza.

Maher nailed a 24-yarder to make it 32-24 with 1:53 remaining, but that was enough time for Saskatchewan.

A 31-yard pass interference penalty spotted the ball at the 1-yard line and Anthony Allen plunged in for the score with 49 seconds left. Dressler hauled in the ensuing two-point conversion to force overtime.

Earlier, Burris' 8-yard TD run opened the scoring. Milo split the uprights from 41 yards out late in the first to get the Roughriders on the board, but Miles' 12-yard TD reception increased the Ottawa margin to 15-3 in the second.

Dressler returned a punt 78 yards for a score before Burris connected with Miles for an 8-yard scoring strike with 20 seconds left in the half.

Sunseri fired an 18-yard score to Will Ford early in the third and Burris' 14- yard TD pass to Jeremiah Johnson midway through the frame upped the RedBlacks' advantage to 29-17.
