Payton's three TDs propel Alouettes in win

Jan 9, 2008 - 5:41 PM MONTREAL (Ticker) -- Jarrett Payton rushed for 119 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Montreal Alouettes downed the B.C. Lions, 32-14, on Sunday.

The Alouettes (6-4), who lost a 46-14 decision at home against B.C. (6-3-1) just 10 days ago, received a stellar performance from Payton, who scored in each of the last three quarters.

The win was Montreal's second in their last 10 meetings against the Lions.

Montreal trailed, 10-3, early in the second quarter before Payton started rolling, scoring the first of his TDs from two yards out with 1:59 remaining before halftime to make it 12-10.

After the Lions kicked a field goal to take a 13-12 lead before the end of the first half, Montreal stormed back by outscoring B.C., 20-1, in the second half - highlighted by Payton's three-yard score in the third quarter and a one-yard plunge in the fourth.

Marcus Brady went 13-of-21 for 300 yards for Montreal, which moved a point ahead of Winnipeg (5-3-1) for the lead in the East division.

Jarious Jackson finished 16-of-26 for 222 yards, a touchdown and an interception for B.C., which was held under 45 points for the first time in three contests.
