Spinner Badree racing clock for BBL's Heat
Jan 5, 2017 - 5:46 AM West Indian spinner Samuel Badree will race the clock to be fit for the closing regular-season matches of the Brisbane Heat's Big Bash League season.Scans have confirmed the 35-year-old had suffered a grade-one hamstring tear in Tuesday night's three-wicket loss to the Sydney Sixers, meaning he will miss the next two weeks.
"It's at the lesser end of the scale so we will work now on getting Samuel strong and ready to play again in the back end of the tournament," Heat physiotherapist Martin Love said on Thursday.
He is certain to miss Thursday night's top-of-the-table clash with the Perth Scorchers, as well as the return bout next Wednesday at the Gabba.
He will then battle to play in the club's final two matches against the Melbourne Stars and Renegades on January 17 and 20 respectively.
Badree has taken four wickets at an economy rate of 6.12 in the tournament.
Brisbane coach Daniel Vettori has also confirmed the franchise will search for a replacement international player for the duration of the injury.
