Mills signs BBL deal with Hurricanes
Sep 25, 2017 - 11:00 AM England speedster Tymal Mills, who scored a bumper IPL contract earlier this year, has signed for the Hobart Hurricanes for the next two BBL seasons. The Hurricanes were on the lookout for a quality paceman following the completion of Englishman Stuart Broad's one-season deal and the retirement of Australia's former Test tearaway Shaun Tait.
The Tasmanian side snared Mills, a 25-year-old left-arm quick from Sussex who can bowl upwards of 145km/hr and has become a T20 specialist due to a serious back injury.
Mills is highly regarded in the shortest format of the game, reflected when he was purchased for $US2.3 million ($A2.9 million) by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL auction earlier this year.
Only fellow Englishman Ben Stokes went for more money.
Mills played two games for the Brisbane Heat in last season's BBL.
"I was only here for two weeks last season, so I'm looking forward to getting my teeth into the whole tournament this year," he said.
Hobart's first game of the season is against the Adelaide Strikers on December 9.
