Reyes, Mets take down Rangers

Daniel Murphy added three hits, two runs scored and an RBI for New York, which took two of three in the interleague series.
Dillon Gee (8-1), coming off his first loss of the season, got back in the win column with a quality six-inning start of three runs allowed on eight hits.
Derek Holland (6-3) was knocked around for 12 hits and seven runs -- just three earned -- in six-plus inning for Texas. Michael Young went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in a losing effort.
"I'm not going to rack my brain thinking about it. I'm just going to expect we'll get better," Youns said about the defeat. "We have a lot of good people in this clubhouse, a lot of good confident players."
The Rangers took the series opener before getting routed, 14-5, on Saturday. They handed the Mets a first-inning run in the finale when a wild pitch allowed Reyes to score.
A solo home run from Young and an RBI single from Mitch Moreland in the bottom half gave the Rangers a short-lived lead, as New York countered with four runs in the second.
"It was nice to come in and just battle," Gee said. "Not good stuff today, but after the first inning, especially when they got me the lead back, my main goal was to keep them there, keep us in the game. I was just fortunate to be able to do that."
Ronny Paulino initiated things with a single, moved to third on Murphy's base hit and scored on Adrian Beltre's throwing error.
Reyes laced a single to left to bring in Murphy, and Carlos Beltran chased home the final two runs with a two-out single back up the middle.
Young singled home Endy Chavez in the fifth, but the Mets got two more in the sixth when Murphy doubled to knock in Paulino and scored on Ruben Tejada's RBI single.
Jason Bay's fielder's choice plated the final Mets run in the ninth, and the Rangers got two off Francisco Rodriguez in the bottom half on an RBI hit by Chavez and a run-scoring groundout by Young.
