Davis shines as Royals end Braves' 10-game winning streak

Davis (2-0) scattered five hits and struck out seven to help the Royals split this two-game Interleague set.
Former Brave and Atlanta native Jeff Francoeur drove in the lone run in the fourth inning against Mike Minor (2-1). Minor allowed five hits and fanned five over six strong frames.
"You've got to be pleased with Mike's outing," said Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez. "We had some opportunities. Seemed like Davis just made some pitches when he had to make some pitches."
The Braves have been shut out in both of their losses this season. The Phillies blanked them, 2-0, on April 4.
Alcides Escobar snapped an 0-for-15 slide at the plate with a leadoff single in the fourth. With two outs in the inning, Lorenzo Cain reached on an infield hit and Francoeur followed with a line-drive single to left field, scoring Escobar.
Atlanta's best chance to score came in the seventh. Juan Francisco hit a two- out single and was thrown out at home trying to score on Chris Johnson's bloop double tight to the line in shallow right field.
Kansas City reliever Kelvin Herrera worked around a one-out single in the eighth after giving up three home runs in the eighth Tuesday night.
Greg Holland struck out the Braves in order in the ninth to pick up his third save of the season.
"We're not swinging the bats as great as we want right now, but, at the same time, when you got pitching like we do this year, sometimes you just need to get one run to win a game and today we were able to do that," Francoeur said.
