Atlanta displayed its power in winning its 10th in a row on Tuesday, as it cranked out five solo home runs and continued the club's best start in 19 years by overpowering the Royals, 6-3.
"It's nice to have that type of arsenal on your club," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "It's a game changer. One swing of the bat and you can put some runs on the board."
Jason Heyward, Justin Upton and Dan Uggla each went deep in the eighth inning, while Juan Francisco homered twice for the Braves, who are in the midst of their best stretch since winning 15 in a row from April 16-May 2, 2000. That's also the last time the team swept four straight series.
Another win on Wednesday would match the team's best start since beginning 13-1 in 1994.
Eric O'Flaherty (3-0) earned the win behind Kris Medlen, who allowed just two runs -- one earned -- on six hits over seven solid frames.
Chris Getz ended the longest dry spell between home runs in the majors with a solo shot for Kansas City, which was coming off a 4-2 homestand.
A big reason behind Atlanta's early season success has been left-hander Mike Minor, who is 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA. After holding the Chicago Cubs to a run in 7 1/3 innings, Minor scattered five hits over 5 2/3 scoreless frames to beat the Miami Marlins.
Over his last 17 starts Minor has posted a 2.02 ERA.
Kansas City, meanwhile, will counter with righty Wade Davis, who was also impressive his last time out. Davis scattered four hits over five scoreless innings to beat the Minnesota Twins, as he improved to 1-0, while lowering his ERA to 4.00.
Davis lost his only other start to the Braves.
Atlanta has won four of its six all-time matchups with the Royals.
