Teheran sharp as Braves finish sweep of Mets

Jun 22, 2015 - 2:32 AM Atlanta, GA ( - The Atlanta Braves finally got to Matt Harvey in the seventh inning en route to completing a three-game sweep of the New York Mets.

Julio Teheran opposed Harvey and allowed just one hit over seven innings of work as the Braves defeated the Mets 1-0 in Sunday's pitchers' duel.

Teheran (5-3) improved to 4-0 at Turner Field this season and lowered his ERA to 2.35 at home.

"Very good, very good performance," said Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez. "I thought overall it was a great homestand."

Harvey (7-5), meanwhile, wasn't as dominant but still kept the Braves off the board until the seventh.

"It was a tough series for all of us," Harvey said.

Atlanta managed to push across the game's only run with two outs in the seventh. Ryan Lavarnway roped a double to left and scored on pinch-hitter Pedro Ciriaco's single into shallow center field off Harvey.

Alex Torres came on in relief and walked the first two batters he faced to load the bases, but managed to get Kelly Johnson on a fly ball to center to keep it a 1-0 game.

Nick Masset recorded the first two outs of the eighth in relief of Teheran before Eric Campbell ripped a double into the left-field corner. Dana Eveland came on and struck out pinch-hitter John Mayberry Jr. to end the inning.

Jim Johnson entered the game in the ninth in place of closer Jason Grilli, who pitched in the first two games of the series, and picked up his fourth save of the season despite giving up a pair of singles to begin the inning.

Curtis Granderson singled to right and Juan Lagares reached on a bunt single to put the lead runner aboard. Lucas Duda flied out to left, however, and Johnson induced a 5-4-3 double play from Michael Cuddyer to send the Mets to a fifth straight defeat.
