Ramirez, Willingham power Marlins past Brewers
Jun 3, 2007 - 1:57 AM MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Hanley Ramirez and Josh Willingham gave reliever Jose Capellan no relief Saturday.Ramirez's run-scoring single and Willingham's two-run homer in the eighth inning spoiled the season debut of Capellan as the Florida Marlins reeled in a 5-2 victory Saturday.
Capellan (0-1), who was recalled from Class AAA Nashville on Thursday, came on in relief of starter Chris Capuano, who had a season-high 10 strikeouts. Capellan immediately surrendered three runs on three hits to take the loss for NL Central-leading Milwaukee, which saw its modest three-game winning streak snapped. The Brewers had dropped 12 of 15 games from May 13-28.
Byung-Hyun Kim (3-2), who gave one run and three hits and struck out three in six innings. Kim is 2-0 since being acquired in a trade that sent reliever Jorge Julio to Colorado. In his last start, the righthander pitched six scoreless frames and yielded just three hits and struck out five in a 5-3 win over the Cubs.
Four relievers saved the game for Kim, and Kevin Gregg pitched the ninth for his seventh save of the season.
As for Capuano (5-4), the slumping lefthander made one mistake - a two-run homer to Miguel Cabrera in the sixth - but was left with a no-decision. Capuano, who struck out seven of his first nine batters, has lost his last four decisions. He allowed two runs and seven hits over seven innings in Monday's 2-1 loss against the Braves.
Capuano also had a solo home run in the fifth to open the scoring. The blast was the first for a Brewers pitcher since Brooks Kieschnick on Sept. 12, 2003 at San Francisco.
Corey Hart hit his third career pinch-hit home run to tie the game at 2-2 in the seventh.
